We recommend a motorcycle licence to unlock the full power of your FONZ. In QLD, SA, WA and the NT, every FONZ model except the NKD can also be speed-limited to 50 km/h and ridden on a car licence. The NKD is motorcycle licence only.
Yes. Every FONZ is a road-legal electric scooter or motorbike, built for Australian roads. FONZ is Australian-owned and has been electric since 2010, with thousands of FONZ EVs on Australian roads.
No. The current crackdowns target high-powered e-bikes and electric motorbikes that aren't registered or compliant for public roads. Every FONZ is a fully road-legal electric scooter or motorbike. It's registered, plated and insured, and meets Australian Design Rules, so you can ride it with confidence anywhere in Australia. Not sure if your current e-bike is legal? No. A FONZ is a registered, road-legal electric scooter or motorbike, not a stand-up kick scooter. You ride it on the road like any other scooter or motorbike, with a number plate, registration and insurance, and it's not for footpaths or bike paths.
It varies by state, but as a guide, budget around $200–$400 a year on average for registration and compulsory third party (CTP) insurance combined. Comprehensive insurance is optional and extra.
You don't need a garage. The Arthur 7 has portable Powerpacks you can take inside to charge at home or at work. The Z Series can charge from a carport or parking spot with a power point within 6 metres, and its fast charging gives up to 100 km of range in under 1.5 hours, so you can top up while you have a coffee. Many riders also use public charging stations, such as Ausgrid's.
Yes. Ride one at FONZ HQ in Alexandria, Sydney, or at selected partner locations, or we can bring one to you. Our mobile test rides cover the east coast from Noosa to the Mornington Peninsula and beyond, including the Northern Rivers and the Mid North Coast, plus Adelaide and Perth. Book a test ride.

There's an optional mini service at 1–3 months, the first service at 6 months, then a service every 12 months or 5,000 km. Our Mobile Service Team runs monthly routes across our service area. Outside that area, you can use a recommended service partner, or we'll support any licensed repairer.

Almost certainly. Handlebar risers add a couple of inches, and we've fitted riders up to 6'5". Low-profile saddles and tyres are available for shorter riders.
Yes! A pre-owned FONZ scooter is a great way to get into the ride. Every certified pre-owned scooter is reconditioned, upgraded with our latest powertrain technology, and given a thorough battery health check. We replace Powerpacks nearing the end of their life, and all scooters come with a minimum 3-month warranty. Prices start at $3,990.
