How is my guaranteed trade-up value worked out?
It's a percentage of what you originally paid for your FONZ, based on its age and kilometres. Values exclude accessories, merchandise, government charges and taxes.

Who can use the Guaranteed Trade-Up?
The original purchaser, within 48 months of purchase. Your FONZ needs to be serviced by FONZ or a licensed repairer to the Owner's Manual schedule, with normal wear and tear, nothing that has voided the New Vehicle Limited Warranty (such as unapproved modifications, misuse, neglect or riding outside the Service Schedule), and free of finance at trade-in. My FONZ is older than 4 years or has over 15,000 km. Can I still trade up?
Yes. The original purchaser can trade it in against a new FONZ at full price. We work out a minimum range from your purchase price, and the final figure depends on condition at inspection. Trade-in values start from $1,000 for a running FONZ, or $500 if it's over 6 years old with its original Powerpack, needs a new Powerpack, or isn't running but is roadworthy. A written-off FONZ has no trade-in value. Or keep it, and recondition it for around 7 more years of life.
How long does an electric scooter battery last?
A FONZ Powerpack is designed for around 7 years of service. Actual life depends on model, kilometres, charging habits, storage and servicing. For example, Arthur 3 and Arthur 6 Powerpacks are expected to keep 80% of their capacity after 50,000 km if well maintained.
Can I replace the battery in my FONZ electric scooter?
Yes. When your Powerpack is at or near end of life, a FONZ recondition includes a new Powerpack and charger. Reconditioning starts from $2,490 for an Arthur 2 Powerpack, or $3,490 for a Z Series Powerpack, confirmed after inspection.
Is it worth reconditioning an old electric scooter?
Often, yes. A FONZ recondition costs a fraction of a new scooter and includes a new Powerpack and charger for around 7 more years of life. It also keeps a good machine on the road for longer.
How do I recycle an electric scooter battery in Australia?
Large EV batteries like a FONZ Powerpack can't go in household recycling or supermarket battery bins. FONZ owners can drop off or send an end-of-life Powerpack to FONZ HQ, 9/37 O'Riordan Street, Alexandria, and we recycle it free through our partner Ecobatt. Freight is not included. Learn more

*Around 7 years is FONZ's recommended Powerpack service life and the point we treat as end of life. It's a guide, not a guarantee. Actual life varies with model, kilometres, charging habits, storage and servicing. For example, Arthur 3 and Arthur 6 Powerpacks are expected to retain 80% of capacity after 50,000 km if well maintained.
Trade-up calculator values are indicative and based on typical launch prices or the price you enter. Prices have changed over time. The Guaranteed Trade-Up value is a minimum trade-up value with FONZ, not a market valuation.
Guaranteed Trade-Up: the trade-up value can only be used towards the purchase of a FONZ vehicle. It is not redeemable for cash and cannot be transferred or assigned. It applies only to the original vehicle, for the original purchaser, within 48 months of purchase. Values may be adjusted for kilometres above the applicable allowance or for damage beyond normal wear and tear, and exclude accessories, merchandise, government charges and taxes. Values are confirmed at inspection and subject to the full Terms & Conditions.
^Every recondition is about bringing your FONZ back to life as best we can within its original design. Upgrades depend on your model, age and specification, and on parts availability. Your FONZ stays the model it is and won't have every feature of a new FONZ. What we'll do is confirmed at inspection.
Reconditioning: pricing and inclusions are confirmed after inspection. The recondition warranty covers the reconditioning work and parts fitted by FONZ, and does not extend or restart your original new vehicle warranty. Warranty terms apply: FONZ warranty.
Powerpack recycling through Ecobatt is free when your end-of-life Powerpack is delivered to FONZ HQ. Freight is not included.

Our goods and services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. For major failures with the service, you are entitled: to cancel your service contract with us; and to a refund for the unused portion, or to compensation for its reduced value. You are also entitled to choose a refund or replacement for major failures with goods. If a failure with the goods or a service does not amount to a major failure, you are entitled to have the failure rectified in a reasonable time. If this is not done you are entitled to a refund for the goods and to cancel the contract for the service and obtain a refund of any unused portion. You are also entitled to be compensated for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage from a failure in the goods or service.
